Gigi was a 7-year-old boy with big brown eyes and a wild mop of curly hair. He lived in a cozy little house with his parents and his beloved cat, Fluffy. Gigi was a happy and curious child, always eager to explore and learn new things. However, he also had a bit of a wild streak and was prone to acting out when things didn’t go his way.
One day, Gigi’s parents decided to take him on an adventure to the Home, a large facility where children could play and learn together. Gigi was excited to explore this new place, but he was a bit nervous too. He had a tendency to get overstimulated in new environments, and his parents knew this could lead to some challenging behaviors.
As they entered the Home, Gigi’s senses were overwhelmed by all the colors, noises, and smells. He clung tightly to his parents’ hands, feeling anxious and unsure. But then, he felt a soft nudge against his leg. It was Fluffy, his loyal cat, who had snuck along on their adventure. Fluffy had a way of calming Gigi down and making him feel braver, and Gigi was grateful to have his furry friend by his side.
As they explored the Home, Gigi and Fluffy encountered different challenges. In the sensory room, Gigi became overwhelmed by the bright lights and loud music, and he started to feel anxious. But then, he remembered what his mom had told him – he could take deep breaths and count to ten to help calm himself down. Gigi took a few deep breaths and felt his muscles relax. With Fluffy purring in his lap, he was able to enjoy the sensory room and even tried out some different textures and sounds.
Next, Gigi and Fluffy came to the playroom, where there were lots of other children playing together. Gigi felt a little shy at first, but then he remembered something else his mom had told him. She said that if he wanted to make friends, he should smile and say hello to others. Gigi took a deep breath and walked over to a group of kids playing with blocks. He smiled and said hello, and soon he was joining in the game with them. Fluffy even made some friends with the other cats in the room, and they all played together happily.
As the day went on, Gigi and Fluffy encountered more challenges, but they were able to navigate them with the strategies Gigi had learned. When Gigi got frustrated because someone didn’t want to play the game he suggested, he remembered to take a deep breath and ask for a turn instead of getting upset. And when Fluffy accidentally knocked over a tower of blocks, Gigi was able to stay calm and help rebuild it instead of getting angry.
As they left the Home that day, Gigi felt proud of himself and grateful for Fluffy’s support. He realized that even when things didn’t go his way, he could use his coping strategies and stay calm. And with Fluffy by his side, he could do anything. Gigi couldn’t wait to come back to the Home and continue his adventures with Fluffy by his side.
